Kids Parade

Saturday was the kids parade, that coveted of all days when all the wards dress their kids up in whatever that years theme is and proudly march them down center street while hoping that none of them get run over by a float. After dropping Alyssa and Kelsie off at the top of the parade route we set up our chairs near the end at our usual shady corner. It get kinda tense until the parade starts because of the cars still running up and down the street and in and out of side streets to find that special area. After Alyssa made sure that other ward members actually showed up, she walked down to where we were sitting. This is her reminding me of my loser status in the world of cool kids.
Todays theme had something to do with the Icelandic tradition so all the kids dressed up as vikings, well, at least the foil covered bowl with paper horns and fake braids for the girls. Oh. and they had swords too. I guess it's a good idea that they kept all the kids in the float because some people were trying to get them to raid another wards float and carry away the treasure and most of their women. Okay that was just me trying to get them to do it, I thought it would be a good touch, otherwise to me they just looked like they were afraid of the aliens reading their minds.
After the parade is the big finale, the kids tent. Here Kelsie is trying to knock down some soda cans so she can win a big punching baloon.
And here is Alyssa testing it for her sister. And when this picture gets out it will solidify her standing in the world of cool kids. It was a fun day because after all the festivities I got to go home and sleep.
