July 4th

July 4Th came and went, and went, and went. OK, it's been a while so I had better get this posted so I can get caught up on everything else that has happened this summer. This is Lucy. Some of you may have met her already. This is kind of a bad picture. We thought she was just the calmest dog we had every seen and we got so lucky when we adopted her. Nope, she just had a cold. She's better now and we have since found out why the last family returned her.
This is what Lucy looks like now. We took her to see the balloons. Since this has become something of a tradition on the 4Th we thought we had better take the whole family. She did pretty good.
The usual suspects were there. The giant pig bank. I was worried this might make Lucy hungry but she just sat there, guess it didn't smell like pork to her.
A couple other balloons started to inflate, this is when we learned that they would not be launching today because of the awesome weather we were having this year.
When the Coke balloon inflated I had the urge to turn, salute and pledge my allegiance but Lonna slapped my hand down.
Eh, it's just the pig.
We heard rumors that there would be a special guest this year. Looks like he brought some security
They were friendly enough that we could get a picture with them.
Now you can salute.
Usually when they inflate a balloon they have a bunch of nobodies to push the very few people back so they won't get squished by the balloon. This one brings it's own squadron of geeks.
Hardcore geeks with fake laser blasters.
Mega geeks who like to dress up as nameless filler characters.
You can feel the excitement in the air. Star Wars fans have that special ability.
Getting closer.
Oooh, oooh he's rising.
All hail the mighty inflatable Darth Vader head. It would have been really cool if they had the heavy breathing over some loud speakers.
I still think your awesome coke balloon.
The pig got a little scared and started to trample the remax guys.
By the way Lucy, you now have to get your picture taken at these events just like the other kids. Better get used to it.
It's amazing how fast they can take a balloon down when the wind starts to blow. Next time you are up against Darth in a fight to the death just pray for a really strong wind, he will cave, he's wimpy like that.

Cute dog, nice commentary, and beautiful models. I did love the Vader balloon. That would have been cool to see.

Sorry the balloons couldn't get off. And sorry we weren't there to have our annual breakfast, that has been so much fun. Maybe next year.

Oh, I'm sad we missed the balloons this year, my kids would have LOVED the Darth Vader balloon, and the guys with it!
