Graduation Cruise pt 1

Ever since our last cruise I told Alyssa that she could choose what vacation she wanted for her graduation, and might have hinted towards another cruise.  We really enjoyed the Alaska cruise and wanted to have that fun again except without the failed engine pod.  We also wanted to go somewhere warm and close so that narrowed everything down to the Carnival Splendor, the exact same boat that had the engine trouble. For some reason none of the other cruise lines go to Mexico in the summer.

 After checking in and finally getting on the boat we had to do what everyone else was doing, taking pictures.  OK, that might have just been me.

 Here is a family we met while boarding.  They seemed like a fun group so we hung out together.  We were glad we had Jim, Jenni, Kati and Jacob to keep us company. 

 Oh yea, then there were these guys. 

 That first night was just a bunch of walking around, getting used to the ship.  Like all cruises they have a towel animal for you when they turn down your bed for the night.  We had to take a picture of each one.  And now you will have to suffer through all of the towel animals. (Insert evil laughter here)

 The next mornig brought the greatest letdown of the week, no fresh waffles.  That's it, turn this thing around.  The last cruise had the best fresh waffles, add some peanut butter and syrup and you were in heaven.  Oh well, there was unlimited hot chocolate, that was a plus.

 I let kelsie have the camera for a while and she gave me this contribution to my coffee table book of table tops.

 That night was the first formal night.  We liked these.  It's always fun to dress up and go to dinner and a show.

 Because you get to pretent to be fashion models.

 Tonight's towel animal.  It looks like another dog.  It does have a funny nose so it might be an elephant/dog.

 Early the next morning we started to pull into Cabo.  Here are some waves hitting the rocks on the way down.  This might be why the captain told us not to swim on the west side of Cabo.

 This is that famous arch that everyone likes to take a picture of.  On the way down we were making final arraingements on who was going on the zipline when we were in Cabo.  Jim hounded Kelsie relentlessly until she finally caved in to peer pressure. (I'm gonna have to talk to her about peer pressure) 

 Here she is about to go with the group.  No backing out now.  I was glad she went, it gave Lonna and I some time to walk around the town and take in the sights,More on this adventure later, also I would have felt bad leaving her on the boat all alone.

 I assume this was the finish line.  It was the last picture on the disc that they bought.  Kelsie took her GoPro to get some action video but they wouldn't let her use it.  Obviously they can't charge you money if you take your own pictures.

 Remember that strolling through the town?  We did manage to find a giant frog to get our picture with.  Even though he does represent a drinking establishment where you can get totally wasted out of you mind.  The rest of the stroll was warding off water taxi drivers, hundreds of vendors trying to sell you souveniers and taquilla shop owners telling you that you need a drink of taquilla because you look angry.  Hey!  I had my vacation look on!

 That night dinner became a little more interesting, they made all of us get up and dance.  I am so glad I had the job of photographer.  To be continued...
